This is an introduction to a set of name-change records from 1817 from Gauersheim, which was in the Pfalz area of Bavaria at the time.

wurde von mir Präsident des Königl. Bayerischen
Bezirksgerichts zu Kaiserslautern äußerstem
und letztm Blatt mit unserem Namens-Zug
und auf den übrigen mit unserm Handzuge versehen
und zur Eintragung der Familien-Namen der
Juden der Bürgermeisterei Gauersheim in
gemäsheit des Dekrets vom 20ten Juli 1808
zu d[i]enen.

The present register containing ten sheets was marked by me, President of the Royal Bavarian District Court in Kaiserslautern, with my signature on the cover and the last page, and with my initials on the other pages, and is intended for registering the family names of the Jews of the municipality of Gauersheim, according to the Decree of 20th July 1808
