I had already posted 2 larger photos, here are the two closeups of the stones..I was wondering if they can be translated into English? I'm looking for the exact spelling of names. Thank you so much for your help!

11/9/2012 2:12 AM Hello Erika,

You had asked for exact spelling of names, but this is not possible. Here is some background on why this is the case.

When translating from a language using another type of alphabet, one can only get close to possible sounds...not an exact spelling. You can use the soundex system, available on the JewishGen site, or you can do more research with a variety of possible spellings. In addition, the translated spellings change from country to country, during various periods of time. A town could have been in one country using that spelling, and after political upheaval or war, the town was in a different country using yet another spelling.

So, try to be flexible. The previous person who translated gave you some options with which to work and search.....Jo
