This postcard was in the possession of my grandmother, Chaie Susid Boskoff. It was sent to her(or someone in her family) from Boston, MA in 1908. My grandmother had just arrived in Brooklyn from Ostrog (near Rovno), Russia as a young married in 1907. Her husband's name was Israel Boskoff.I believe the man in the photograph is her brother Tevye Susid who may have changed his name to Theodore Tanenbaum. Tevye was notorious in my family lore as he is reputed to have abandoned his wife (Malka) and son (Moises)back in Ostrog and started a "new" family and identity in the US or Montreal, Canada. The reverse of the card is also scanned. I apologize for the condition of the card but it was in a shoe box for over 100 years! Many thanks for any possible assistance in translating this meaningful card!

On  Response
10/18/2012 7:33 AM The handwriting is illegible also the text is washed off. All I can read is the first line "dear sister" , a word here and there like "received", "is ill", "has to do an operation" and the last two words "your brother"
10/21/2012 12:43 PM The right-hand edge is torn off and so is the beginning of every sentence. Much of the text is unclear and smudged. I'll do what I can.

..."you must know that"
..."have received but"
..."distress and anguish I accepted"
..."that your husband is ill"
...".... Chaya"
..."I beg you, write"
..."what the doctor says"
..."needs to have an operation done"
..."I beg you, write"
..."respond to the letter that"
..."that you sent father"
..."..."?
..."about your husband"

Can't make out the signature.
Hope this helps somehow.
