This is Ghenendal Weisman. She was supposedly married to a Louis (Lewis) WEISMAN. She is supposed to be from Craiova in Romania. Is the wig she is wearing a cultural tradition or a Jewish tradition and why was it worn?

4/23/2014 8:10 AM Hello,
I would guess that she is an orthodox religious woman who wore a scheitel (wig) as a form of modesty to cover her hair, although from the picture, it doesn't look as though she has much hair at this stage in her life.

Hope this helps,
Evelyn, Toronto, ON Canada
