On  Response
5/27/2009 Hello:
Your photos are very interesting! I have only some speculation, not factual information...since your other posted pictures are WWII era, I am wondering if this one is the same time frame as well, since it is not dated? But assuming that these are ovens (not related to any wartime crematoria), it would seem to me that they are some sort of public ovens where women would come to bake/heat food for their families. Baking bread, cooking food, and also I believe people used this sort of thing on Shabbat to make cholent so they did not have to "cook" on Shabbat and would have a hot meal after sundown. You could research these sorts of practices further, but that would be my best guess.
Best wishes,
Philis
