Bukovina

Some cities that were formerly part of Bukovina are now part of the Ukraine. At one time, Bukovina was its own region. In 1918, following WWI, it's representatives voted to become part of Romania.

In ensuing years, Romanians generally populated the southern part, while Ukrainians populated the northern part.

As a result of WWII, Romania ceded the northern part of Bukovina to the USSR. The southern part remained with Romania. Upon the collapse of the Soviet Union, the northern part became part of the Ukraine.
