Kosiv is now in the Ukraine.  During World War II, it was part of Poland in Stanislawow, Galicia.

Ethan Schaff's mother is from Kosiv, and the two of them recently visited the city, both to rekindle old memories, and to see the places she could remember.  She survived the Holocaust there by hiding in the attic of a barn for three years, and wanted to share her memories with her son.
