Chernigov Oblast's main Cities and Districts in 2005

MAJOR JEWISH COMMUNITIES IN CHERNIGOV GUBERNIA
(gubernia founded 1796- reorganized into oblasts 1920s)

Borzna, Chernigov, Glukhov, Gorodnya, Konotop, Kozelets, Krolevets, Mglin, Nezhin, Novgorod Severskiy, Novozybkov, Oster, Sosnitsa, Starodub, Surazh

There is considerable overlap between the communities of historic Chernigov Gubernia and the more modern Chernigov Oblast but a notable exception is Priluki which is today in Chernigov Oblast had previously been in Poltava Gubernia.
