Muni CHERNOFF of Chernigov
Munie Chernoff of Chernigov was said to be around 102 when this picture was taken in 1911. The back of this picture is notated that he died in 1914 at around 104 years of age. Similar information was passed along by his grandson's wife. Information about the CHERNOFF family of Chernigov and Konotep was sent by Marilen Pitler and Leah Hammer and Harriet Hoffman and a great round-robin of family emailers for whom so far I only have email sigs, not real names. The picture was provided by Leah Hammer.

Chernigov is a city rich in resources including committed researchers of Jewish Genealogy. There are active message boards on the free services like the one on RootsWeb, there are researchers who have posted pictures on their own family pages, there is a plethora of material in the archives of the Ukraine government. We need people who have had successes in their research to share the details with us. We will post copies of records found in the archives or translated for you by a researcher. We will display your family photographs that were taken while your family lived in Chernigov. Each person who shares a family story or a family picture or a family-preserved document, increases our knowledge-base tremendously. Each person who provides an archive-found document helps us discover what is out there to be found. Please help make this page an effective part of your research. Remember each photograph exhibited here increases the chances that someone will publish a picture of one of your ancestors or one of your kinsmen that you didn't even know existed!
