Membership in the Suwalk-Lomza Interest Group is defined as the purchase of at least any one, whole volume of Landsmen, current or past (i.e., any one of Vols. 1-20; or as of year 2011, the in-process Volume 21). Cost per volume is $25 in the U.S.; in Canada $28 USD [Air]; for all other countries $35 USD [Air]. New members receive a free Family Finder ad, and gubernia maps. Individualized research guidance is also given to new members (as needed, and within reasonable limits) at no extra charge.
Back issues of Landsmen may be ordered by volume. Single issues are not sold individually; however, we invite members to order a "customized" volume(s) of their own choosing, factoring any double issue as the equivalent of any two single issues. Thus, a "customized volume" may consist of any one of the following combinations: either any 4 single issues; or any 2 double issues; or any 2 single issues plus 1 double issue.
Cost per "customized volume" is the same as the cost quoted above for any one whole, intact volume (e.g. in the U.S.A., $25.)
The purchase of at least one “custom volume” of Landsmen issues — in lieu of any one whole, intact volume — counts as membership in the Suwalk-Lomza Interest Group for the calendar year in which the purchase is made.
If you think you would like to join us, but after reading all components of this web site you still have questions, you may dialogue with the Landsmen Editor through our Email address.
The entire set of issues in Volumes 1-20 may be purchased at a discount (if ordered together) for $275 in the USA. This is a 20 pound box of all 50 books. This discount price for all 20 volumes as a set results in about 9 free volumes.
Important Note: The above offer is valid only for shipments within the U.S.A. The mailing cost to other countries of packages equivalent to more than one Landsmen volume should be discussed - via our email address - before any such orders are placed. Under the current U.S. Postal rate structure there are cost reductions for international mail packages weighing more than the equivalent of one full volume of Landsmen issues, which in turn can reduce our charges to you.
All checks from members outside of the U.S.A. must be in USD and drawn on an American bank.
Payments should be sent in the form of a personal check or money order, payable in U.S. dollars [drawn on a U.S.A bank] to: Suwalk-Lomza Interest Group. [Mail to: Apt 228, 3701 Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington, DC 20008-4502].
Along with your payment, please enclose a letter or note stating clearly how you wish your payment to be applied - e.g: upcoming new volume of Landsmen [Vol. 21]; or the most recently completed whole volume [Vol. 20]; or selected past whole volume(s); or “custom volume(s)" created from selected back issues of your choice----Or, any combination of the above options.
Optional: We recommend that you include in your letter something about your research interests, including your towns and surnames. This information is completely confidential, and will not be published -- unless you want it to be. As a new member, you are entitled to a free Family Finder ad in Landsmen – if you wish. We allow a lot of space in our publication for these ads, and our members frequently get good results from them. Upon receiving your order and payment, the Landsmen Editor will ask you if you wish us to compose a Family Finder ad for you, based on the information you sent us. If so, you will receive a copy of your ad in draft, before it is published. [Be sure to include your Email address in your letter.]
