Lloyd Street, Sherwood, Nottingham NG5 4BP, a purpose built synagogue in use from 1971, the official inaugaration took place on 1 October 1972.(iii)

Previously, from 1965 to 1971, the congregation held services at the Friends Meeting House, Clarendon Street.(iv)

Formation:

Following an unsuccessful attempt to establish a progressive congregation in Nottingham in the 1950s, a formal meeting, held on 19 May 1965, approved the establishment of the congregation and the first services were held on 11 June 1965.(v)

A constituent community of Liberal Judaism (formerly the Union of Liberal and Progressive Synagogues, ULPS), having joined in September 1965.

The congregation is a registered charity, number 246773, registered on 28 February 1966. The governing document is the congregation's constitution adopted 15 September 1965, as subsequently amended.(xxii)

Worship Registration:

The synagogue, referred to as being in Mansfield Street, Sherwood, is registered as a Place of Worship - Worship Register Number 73094 - under the Places of Worship Registration Act 1855.(xxiii)

Cemetery
Information:

The congregation's cemetery is at Wilford Hill (Nottingham Southern Cemetery). It is approached by a narrow unadopted road off the Loughborough Road, West Bridgford.(xxiv) (For further details see Cemetery Information on the Nottingham Jewish community page).
