Councillor Morris Cohen has been for 14 years a member of Ammanford UDC and its only Jewish Chairman. He was guest of honour at a dinner held last week at the Castle Hotel. He spoke and mentioned he had lived there for 33 years.

At recent meeting of the Ammanford Chamber of Trade a presentation was made to Morris Cohen who prior to retirement was sometime Chairman of the Ammanford UDC and active on the Council and one time chairman of the Chamber of Trade. Autograph album accepted by his son I. Cohen in absence of father.
He now lives in Cardiff Two of his children, Myer and Sylvia, are both prominent solicitors and social workers.

Solicitor Myer Cohen agreed to be new chairman of the Welsh Games Council. Is a shareholder of Cardiff City FC and is former director of Barry Town FC. Has been Chairman and President of the Welsh Hockey Association. In 1978 he was awarded the Pologna Restituta medal. Awarded to civilians for services to the country. He is an honorary life member of the 1st Polish Armoured Division.

Obituary of Sylvia Garelick, born Ammanford, 16 November 1916, died Cardiff 31 July 2004 aged 87.
Youngest of 5 children of Morris Cohen, an immigrant from Skud, Lithuania, who married Ellen Fine at Tredegar in 1902. The family moved to Cardiff just before WWII. Sylvia became the only woman law student at Swansea. She was a solicitor, articled to her brother Myer Cohen. In 1948 she married Saul Garelick, a Cardiff solicitor who died in 2001.
