The following members of this group made Aliyah to Israel: Philip Kaufman; Gideon Shimoni; Ralph Shaskolsky; Hirsch Sadur; Shalom Zausmer ; Marge Rogow; Beryl Juter, Eli Sluzny.

Gideon Shimoni and Eli Sluzny were top-ranking Madrichim in Shichvat Hashomrim; Zvi Jaspan and Joe Lucatz were Schlichim to Habonim, South Africa at the time.

Sadly, two of our members passed away at an early age - Shalom Zausmer in 1998 and Lazer Choritz in 2003.

Beryl Baleson (née Juter) writes: This [photograph] was taken in January 1958, just prior to leaving for the Machon Lemadrichei Chutz Le'aretz, Jerusalem, Israel in February, at a Seminar held at Lakeside, Cape Town (near Muizenberg).We were the largest Habonim group until 1958 to go on this one-year Course.

Habonim Afikim - 1950
The photograph is of the group which gathered in 1949 and 1950 at Kibbutz Afikim, where they spent their absorption (Hachsharah) period. The photograph was taken when the group was leaving Afikim for Tzora in May 1950. It illustrated the article "From Northcliff to Tzora" by Batya Jaspan, which appeared in the SA-SIG Newsletter for June 2002. Details from Mike Getz [MikeGetz005@comcast.net]
