Since joining JewishGen in 1997, John has become the "Master of Modification" . He customized our standardized listserver program (Lyris) to better meet the needs of our moderators; the JewishGenMall storefront design to better meet JewishGen's needs; setting up the initial ShtetLinks site; and has just come up with a complete revision of ViewMate.  There is little that is asked of him that he cannot find time away from his Professional life in the UK to accomplish for us.  When we found out he was the single father of 7, two sets of twins, all under the age of 15 back then, we could hardly contain ourselves.  He was always there, in the middle of the night working away on various and sundry projects for JewishGen.

John has also been involved quietly in so many projects that it is difficult to list them individually.  His work is well known but most specifically, together with Louise Messik he has been responsible for almost all the databases of JGSGB and JCR-UK.
