25 years ago, Pinkus Szenicer started on the huge task of indexing the matzevos, section by section, row by row. In the early Eighties, his son Boleslaw took over and now the locations of more than 50,000 gravestones have been recorded. After a number of discussions and assurances that we would do it to their satisfaction, the management of the Warsaw cemetery agreed to allow JRI-Poland to add these indices to our database. We’re showing Boleslaw with his son Szymon because - someday – Szymon may be the one to carry on his family’s special mission.
