In the scenario I just described, I referred to towns for which all the records have been indexed. JRI-Poland volunteers and regular users of the database know this did not happen by itself, and it did not happen overnight. Many people have played vital and ongoing roles to make it happen
In the fall of 1996, Steve Zedeck posted a message announcing we had passed the 100,000 mark… When we met at the Los Angeles Conference in 1998, the database had grown to 350,000. One year ago, in New York, we passed our first major milestone – a half million, and last week we hit 800,000, and are on our way to one million indices of Jewish vital records of Poland.
