For Russian Poland (or Congress Poland or the Kingdom of Poland, as we often refer to this area), it all starts with microfilms of registers with birth, marriage and death records and, if the 19th century registrar did his job, index pages at the end of each year. It is the photocopies of these index pages that are the basic tools for JRI-Poland.
