Missed something at the 15th Summer Seminar?

So who didn't!

Even if you attended the whole conference, there is no way you could have heard all 60 speakers and performed all the research you might have wanted to.

Many people have asked how they can get the materials that were available at the Seminar. Here are the details:

  1. Resources for Jewish Genealogy in the Boston Area, by Warren Blatt.

This is a ground-breaking 275-page hardbound volume, a must, whether you had ancestors in Boston or not. This book smoothly combines detailed descriptions of Boston-area facilities, with the "how-to" of doing research in Boston or anywhere.

Nationally unique institutions include Brandeis University Libraries, American Jewish Historical Society, and Harvard University Libraries. There are 35 pages on holdings of the American Jewish Historical Society -- including a comprehensive never-before-seen list of their manuscript collections. A merged yizkor book bibliography includes 529 titles held at Harvard, Brandeis, Boston Public Library, etc. An appendix lists Jewish periodicals in the Brandeis Library system, including 150 not to be found in the computerized catalog. Another appendix extends the Morton Allan Directory by listing passenger ships entering the port of Boston 1891-1903.

Price: $15 ($10.00 for JGSGB members). Add $5.00 for UPS shipping and handling to continental US.   OUT OF STOCK.

  2. "Syllabus of the 15th Summer Seminar on Jewish Genealogy, Boston: Beacon of Heritage," edited by Sharla Levine.

The Syllabus is a looseleaf binder with over 300 pages! For each talk given at the Seminar, you can find a biographical sketch of the speaker, and a brief summary of the talk. Over 160 pages of "lecture materials" -- speaker handouts and reference materials -- will be of great benefit while listening to many of the tapes. State-of-the-art information in the lecture material make it a valuable reference in itself.

    A sampling:

The list of advance registrants includes email addresses; and the Seminar Family Finder cross-references by surname and by town being researched. (A roster of late registrants will be included with all orders). There is also material for anyone visiting downtown Boston, including maps and restaurant guides.

Price: $25.00; add $5.00 for UPS shipping and handling to continental US. Order from JGSGB (see below).

  3. Official 15th Summer Seminar T-shirts.

There are still a few left for those who forgot to pick up their special memento of the wonderful event. These quality T's feature the blue lighthouse-beacon logo of the Seminar. We have them in two styles:

Prices: $13.95 for Large Logo; $14.95 for Small Logo with pedigree chart (includes marker pen); add $3.00 for shipping and handling to continental US. Order from JGSGB (see below).

  4. Audio Cassette Tapes. These are available for most of the seminar presentations. Order from Repeat Performance, not from JGSGB.

It is highly suggested that listeners also purchase a copy of the Syllabus (#2 above), in order to follow some talks which had critical handouts. Presentations are one tape each, except for:

A copy of the tape catalog with order form will be included with any order from JGSGB. The tape catalog is also available online or directly from:
