The Congregation's traces its origins as a Northwood overflow service (for the High Holy Days 1987) of Pinner Synagogue and later Sabbath morning services were held locally in private homes, initially just once a month. In 1990, the community commenced holding local Friday nights services in private homes and the United Synagogue bought three houses in Murray Road, Northwood, which became the regular venue for services. Also in 1990, a steering committee was formed and it was agreed that Northwood become a congregation independent of Pinner.
