Basingstoke

Basingstoke, a town in the southern English county of Hampshire, has a population of about 150,000.  It was a municipal borough until 1974, when it was merged with neighbouring districts to form the local government district (later borough) of Basingstoke and Deane, still within the county of Hampshire.
