Providing Data
Jewish Communities and Records (JCR-UK) is a joint project between JGSGB and
JewishGen to record genealogical and historical information concerning the Jewish
communities of the United Kingdom.
We are now ready to recruit
members who would be prepared to participate in the JCR-UK project by either
supplying Material (genealogical & local Jewish
community history data) or coordinating the supply of Material by others: transcription or indexing:
If you are able to help please let us know the district or town or city or
county
or region that particularly interests you.
Data Coordinating would involve
enlisting others in your area who would be prepared to find and collect
information concerning
-
Local synagogues and their congregations with a potted history, contact
details and photographs. Records from their registers of marriages and deaths
-
Jewish museums and memorials – description, contact details and photographs
-
Cemeteries – addresses and contact details. Records of those interred
or details from the tombstones
-
Anything else of Jewish interest. Photographs would also be appreciated.
The data 'gatherers' would
report and submit their data to you. You would be provided with a pack which
would include all the necessary guidelines, standardised templates to use for
recording records and Licensing forms
which must be signed by any donor of records. The completed data and forms would
then be returned.
All of us involved with JCR-UK sincerely hope that you will agree to become
part of this important and historic new venture.
If you are donating then we do
need you to complete a Material Licensing Form
which you can download here:
