Remarks:

The Synagogue and some small tenements adjoining, one of which is occupied by Mr: Simons the Shochet, is the property of the Congregation, but subject to a mortgage debt of £250, bearing interest at £5 p.a.

Remarks:

The few members here are taxed more heavily than they are able to support, our late Treasurer, Jacob Wolfson, having absconded with the funds of the congregation.

Girls:

Butler's Spelling Book, Mrs. Tuckfield's Natural History, Lennie's Arithmetic, Universal History, Peter Parley's Lessons in Objects.

Names of Teachers:

Hebrew Master, Myer Stern, £50.

English Master, Mr. Keenan £80.

Governess, Miss Donegan, £30.

Payment of Pupils:

From 3d. to 1/-, per week. Many are educated Gratuitously.

LONDON WESTERN SYNAGOGUE (ST. ALBAN'S PLACE)

School:

One public school supported by subscriptions from 6/- to 21/- p.a. for educating, clothing and apprenticing indigent Jewish boys. Unconnected with the Synagogue.

Subjects of Instruction:

Hebrew Reading and Translation of the Daily Prayers, Pentateuch and Religious Instruction. English in all its branches including History, Geography and General Knowledge.

Tefillot, Chumashim with English, British and Foreign Society Class Books, Lennie's Grammar, Hogarth's Geography, Scott's Beauties, Ingrams's Arithmetic.

6d. per week for those who do not wish to be placed on the free list.
