Doncaster

The town of Doncaster is the largest urban settlement within of the metropolitan borough of Doncaster, in Northern England. The present boundaries date from 1974, when the metropolitan district of Doncaster was formed within the then new metropolitan county of South Yorkshire.  Doncaster became a unitary authority in 1986 when South Yorkshire lost its administrative status, becoming purely a ceremonial county.  Until 1974, Doncaster was a borough within the West Riding of Yorkshire.

Only one Jewish congregation, the Doncaster Synagogue, is known to have existed in Doncaster.
