Affiliation: The Hainault synagogue and the Chigwell synagogue were affiliated synagogues of the United Synagogue from 1952 and 1965, respectively, until the merger.
Following the merger, the merged congregation continued as an affiliated synagogue of the United Synagogue, but subsequently achieved constituent synagogue status.
Local Authorities: Chigwell is in the local government district of Epping Forest in the county of Essex, which was formed in 1974. From 1933 to 1974, Chigwell was an urban district in the county of Essex. It is situated immediately to the northeast of the administrative boundary of Greater London.
Hainault has been part of the London Borough of Redbridge since 1964 and was formerly in the county of Essex. (Congregations in Redbridge)
